Fedi probably isn’t representative of the general population, but: do you have a collection of TV series downloaded locally that you watch?

is deck.js still OK for writing presentation notes? It's been a while since I've done a proper presentation!

Eeeep! My talk idea has been accepted. Now I actually have to turn that idea into an actual presentation...

Advertising, family business plug is my sister in law's company that launched today, providing carbon positive dog food from black soldier fly larvae, lots of work has gone in to getting here! I think only shipping to AU at the moment.

well, proposal submitted, going through my learnings around

May be a bit of a shitfight as I'm moving house the week before the conerence!

whoops, mail server was not set correctly and was failing SPF checks when receiving from my backup MX, which caused a number of incorrect bounces. <s>This is why upgrades are bad! Debian 11 changed the default SPF config and email broke</s>

A productive weekend finishing up my filter holder. Oak from a sapling I bought at around age 10, which grew at my folks until a few years ago when it got too big, and some spotted gum leftovers from axe handling making. Very pleased!

Ok, I finally figured this one out:
global header policy on my reverse proxy did not include 'data:' in the img-src. All fixed, along with some similar oddness in nextcloud

post time I guess.

I'm a mid to late 30s white guy on Ngunnawal land (Canberra) in Australia, soon to be moving to palawa land (Tasmania).

I'm on the fediverse to follow my infosec friends, meet new people, learn more about solarpunk, anarchist and adjacent ideas.

I generally don't have much to say but will boost cool stuff.

What a dramatic race to end the season! Excited for next year's 🏎️

Australian Census, politicians

That was a good read. Blame the pollies, as usual.

Is it a thing in mastodon to get all toots from a remote instance appearing on my local timeline? Or do I just have to follow everyone on that instance?

All the options in the interface appear to be to _stop_ a whole isntance from appearing. How does this federation thing actually work?

Popped out at lunchtime to pick up a new artwork that was being framed, and this was on the PM’s front wall as I passed by on my way back to the office.

This isn’t entirely about GitHub Copilot, but it was the straw that broke the camels back. I’ve watched the world of free software (and tech in general) become twisted and perverted over the years and this is my attempt to amputate some of that rot without loosing the patient entirely.

I see us millennials have reinvented the back-to-the-land and commune movements popular among Boomers in the 1970s.

Let me save everyone a lot of grief.

Gardening is a fun hobby.

Subsistence farming is grueling, backbreaking labor that your grandparents worked hard to escape.

Actually reading through It's really good.

fav quote so far:
"Why is this so complicated and not standardized? Because nerds valorize deleterious individualism." about RFC-1918 choices on routers. oof...

Local and federated timelines are core and essential features and Mastodon would be worse without them.

Any and all answers are greatly appreciated. No judgement whatsoever. Asking this for research on a WIP article:

Do you #selfhost :flan_hacker: ? If so:

- What do you host yourself?
- Do you use an existing toolchain (Ansible/Puppet scripts, Yunohost, etc)?
- Do you run it bare metal, virtualized or containerized? Which one?

Boosts appreciated :flan_balloon:
